How to verify a plastic surgeon in Mexico

Verification is a chain, not a badge: identify the operating surgeon, confirm current CMCPER certification, compare AMCPER membership separately, and request address-matched evidence for the actual surgical site.

Comparing care in Mexico because prices closer to home are beyond your budget can be a reasonable question to ask. Asking it does not make you reckless. Your caution is useful. It can help you slow down, request names and documents, and check what you are told. This site gives you a verification process, source links, and a place to record answers. The decision remains yours, and these tools do not recommend surgery.

Five-step verification workflow from surgeon name through credential, facility, and address checks

1. Identify the operating surgeon

Ask for the full legal name and CMCPER certificate number. A clinic brand, coordinator, marketplace listing or logo is not enough.

2. Check current CMCPER certification

Search the official CMCPER directory by name or certificate number. Match the name, photograph, number, city and current validity. Save a dated record and recheck shortly before surgery.

3. Compare AMCPER membership separately

Search the same person in the official AMCPER directory. AMCPER membership is additional evidence; it does not replace current CMCPER certification. Pause on a mismatch.

4. Verify the actual surgical facility

Request the legal facility name and exact operating-room address, not only the consultation office. Ask the facility to identify the authorization or filing it relies on, including legal entity, number, responsible sanitary person and address.

5. Address-match and confirm

Confirm the facility evidence through the competent current authority process where available. The cited COFEPRIS notice distinguishes an aviso from a sanitary authorization; it does not establish which authorization applies to a particular surgical site. No complete public lookup was established, so unresolved authority confirmation remains pending.

6. Preserve the evidence

Keep dated directory results, facility documents, the itemized quote, written follow-up plan and complaint/history research. Missing, expired, ambiguous or mismatched evidence means stop—not assume.
